Srinagar: Just two days after terrorists killed seven persons at a construction site in Ganderbal district, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have busted ‘Tehreek Labaik Ya Muslim’ (TLM), a newly-floated terror outfit luring into joining and creating instability in the Union territory, all at the behest of Pakistani agencies.
This comes after the police’s counter-intelligence wing raided 10 locations in 10 locations across Srinagar, Bandipora, Kulgam, Ganderbal, Budgam, Anantnag and Pulwama on Tuesday and found that the new outfit is an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and headed by a Pakistani terrorist handler named “Baba Hamas”.
Here’s all we know about ‘Tehreek Labaik Ya Muslim’ terror outfit and its operations:
- The Searches were conducted under a warrant issued by a special NIA court in connection with a case registered under multiple sections of the IPC and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
- The case involves a larger conspiracy orchestrated by banned terrorist organizations operating in Jammu and Kashmir and across the Line of Control (LoC) under the direction of Pakistani agencies.
- These groups, in coordination with sympathisers in the Kashmir Valley, are actively establishing new terror modules. By exploiting social media platforms, they are using various methods to recruit Kashmiri youth into unlawful and terrorist activities, encouraging them to join terror ranks.
- Evidence has revealed that a figure known as ‘Baba Hamas’ plans to launch a new terrorist organization called ‘Tehreek Labaik Ya Muslim’ (TLM) in collaboration with sympathizers in Kashmir, with the backing of Pakistani agencies.
- The terrorist handler has been using encrypted social media platforms to distribute seditious material and issue instructions to operatives and sympathisers, aiming to radicalize and recruit youth into the newly formed TLM.
- The module remains in constant contact with handlers from terrorist organizations across the border, utilising encrypted messaging platforms and other software. During the raids, authorities arrested several suspects and seized incriminating materials, including digital devices, SIM cards, mobile phones, and laptops, which are crucial to the ongoing investigation, officials said.
- This newly floated terrorist organisation has claimed a few incidents in the recent past which include a fire incident in Panchayat Ghar in the Seer area of district Pulwama, and another fire in a remote village of Doda (though not corroborated on the ground).
