New Delhi: In yet another shocking incident of sexual assault that has surfaced from Uttar Pradesh, a school teacher was arrested for touching girl students of Classes 1 to 3 inappropriately, according to an NDTV report.
Another teacher found out about the repulsive act of the accused — even as the students did not know why he touched them in that manner. The incident occurred at a primary school in Lalitpur district of the state.
After the incident was reported, a huge group of parents along with the village head and students gheraoed Lalitpur’s Talbehat police station, and sought stringent action against the teacher.
How the ‘bad touch’ came to light
Roop Singh, the village chief, said that another teacher had met the girl students to tell them about ‘good touch, bad touch’. While the interaction was on, the girls referring to a ‘bad touch’ told the teacher that the accused used to do that frequently, the village head revealed.
It was then that the teacher understood that the girls were being subjected to ‘sexual assault’. It had been going on for a long time.
There are a number of schools which hold “good touch, bad touch” sessions and teach them about it at an early age to assist children in recognising and understanding sexual assault, as they may not be able to identify these touches.
The villagers alleged that the school and education authorities tried to hush up the entire matter, as it would have brought disrepute to them. After the protest, a case against the accused teacher was filed by the police and he was subsequently arrested. The accused is being interrogated by the police.
In August this year, an incident was reported from Pune in which a girl, studying in Class 5, during a ‘good touch, bad touch’ workshop revealed to a teacher that she was sexually assaulted by a 67-year-old man.
