Surprise inclusions and exclusions as BCCI announces squads for BGT, SA T20Is

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Friday night, announced India’s squads for the upcoming South Africa T20I series and the Border-Gavaskar Trophy scheduled to take place after that. There have been many surprise inclusions and exclusions in the squad as Nitish Kumar Reddy, Abhimanyu Easwaran and Harshit Rana have received maiden Test call-ups for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy while there is no place for Mayank Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav and Riyan Parag in the side.

In what comes as the biggest surprise, Mohammed Shami, who was expected to make it to the Test team, has not been included. Rohit Sharma will continue to lead India in all the five Test matches while Jasprit Bumrah has been named the vice-captain.

Meanwhile for the T20I series against South Africa, Suryakumar Yadav will be at the helm while Vijaykumar Vyshak and Ramandeep Singh are the fresh faces in the squad.
