The Supreme Court on Monday declined to intervene in the petition of TSPSC group-1 candidates and refused to issue interim orders, tv9 telugu reported.
As the case is pending in the Telangana High Court and the final appointments for group-1 services will be subject to the final judgment of the HC, the three judge bench ordered for the hearing to be held there.
“The exam is to happen today, students have already entered exam centres and we refuse to interfere,” CJI DY Chandrachud said.
Why was the petition filed?
Telangana Group-1 candidates recently filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging reservation rules in Telangana State Public Service Committee (TSPSC).
They sought the cancellation of GO-29 issued by the state government and asked for postponement of the examination till the verdict. In the petition, it was stated that the CM is not paying attention to the implementation of GO-55.
Group-1 mains exam begins:
The exam to fill 563 group-1 posts began today across Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Rangareddy districts and exclusive arrangements have been made at 46 examination centers. Prohibitory orders were imposed at all centers and police have been on high alert in response to calls for postponement of the exam.
The examination is set to take place between October 21 to 27.
