Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court, while hearing a bail plea filed by Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, has asked state authorities to produce his medical records after his counsel urged for his release on bail citing his spine-related ailments.
Darshan, who is currently lodged in judicial custody in the Renukaswamy murder case in a Karnataka jail, has moved the High Court challenging an order of a trial court dismissing his plea seeking bail.
Darshan suffering from serious spine-related ailments, counsel told High Court
Darshan’s counsel told Justice S Vishwajit Shetty that the actor was suffering from serious spine-related ailments and was receiving treatment for the same at the jail hospital and urged the court to grant him bail.
According to a Bar and Bench report, the High Court, after hearing the arguments, said that first it will call for actor’s medical records and hear his plea further on October 28 and directed the prosecution to submit a copy of his medical report.

Darshan, his friend Pavithra Gowda and 15 others are accused in Renukaswamy murder case. As per the reports, 33-year-old Renukaswamy, who is stated to be a fan of Darshan, was allegedly abducted from his hometown Chitradurga and was tortured to death allegedly by Darshan and other accused persons.
As per the media reports, deceased Renukaswamy allegedly made derogatory comments against Pavithra on social media, which allegedly enraged the actor and led to his murder. Renukaswamy’s post-mortem report revealed that he died due to shock and haemorrhage as a result of multiple blunt injuries.
Bengaluru Police filed a 3,991-page preliminary chargesheet last month
The Bengaluru Police had filed a 3,991-page preliminary charge sheet in the Renukaswamy murder case last month, comprising statements of 231 witnesses and technical and electronic evidence. 56 police officers have also been named as the witnesses in the case. are also there in the chargesheet as the witnesses in the case. As per the Bengaluru police statement, the chargesheet in the case has been filed on the basis of the eye-witnesses accounts and circumstantial, technical, scientific and other evidence collected by the investigators during the investigation of the case.
