Tehri: A 47-year-old man and his eight-year-old son tragically died after a wasp attack in Jaunpur block of Uttarakhand’s Tehri Garhwal district on Sunday.
Sunderlal, along with his son Abhishek, had gone to the forest to graze their cows when they were attacked by wasps. Villagers rushed them to a government hospital in Mussoorie, but unfortunately, they succumbed to the venom.
Father left no stone unturned to protect the son
Villagers reported that Sunderlal died while trying to protect his son from the wasp attack. Govind Singh, the head of Tuneta village, mentioned that Sunderlal did everything possible to save his son, but the relentless wasp stings proved too much. Upon receiving the news, villagers rushed to rescue them and took the injured to a sub-district hospital in Mussoorie. Sadly, neither survived.
They were kept under observation by doctors, their health showed some improvement
Kempty station house officer (SHO) Vinod Kumar reported that Sunderlal and his son were attacked by wasps on Sunday and were rushed to the sub-district hospital in Mussoorie by villagers. Initially, their health showed some improvement under medical observation, and they were taken home by their family and villagers. However, Sunderlal’s condition suddenly worsened in the evening, and despite being rushed back to the hospital, he could not be saved. His son also passed away the following morning. A postmortem will be conducted to determine the exact cause of their deaths.
Sundarlal was the only breadwinner of his family
Sunderlal, a daily wage laborer under the MGNREGA scheme, was the sole breadwinner for his family, which includes his wife and two children. Villagers have called for proper compensation from the forest department for his family. This tragic incident is the second of its kind in the state this year. In August, a 55-year-old man died after being attacked by wasps while working in his agricultural field in the Jeolikote area of Nainital district.
