Independence Day 2023 will witness a significant celebration, as the Indian government extends a special invitation to sarpanchs from 662 villages situated near the China border. These esteemed guests, representing regions in Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Ladakh, have been selected under the Vibrant Village Program (VVP) initiated by the Central Government.
Special Invitation for Sarpanchs on Independence Day 2023: Celebrating Near China Border Villages
To facilitate their presence, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Headquarters has been actively preparing. Liaison Officers from ITBP will accompany the sarpanchs and guests on their journey from the district headquarters to Delhi and back. The ITBP has taken special care to ensure equal representation of men and women among the guests.
ITBP has made comprehensive arrangements for the guests’ travel, organizing special flights for their convenience. With many sarpanchs already receiving invitations, ITBP continues the process for those who are yet to be invited.
Accompanying Sarpanchs and Guests to Delhi for Celebrations
The Vibrant Village Program was introduced in the 2022 budget with the aim of improving infrastructure in regions adjacent to the China border. Under this program, approximately 2,967 villages in 46 blocks across 19 districts in Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Ladakh have been identified for comprehensive development. The government has allocated Rs 4,800 crore for the successful implementation of this scheme. The program’s first phase includes 662 villages selected for significant progress in the region’s growth and development.
