Dehradun: In the Clement Town area of Uttarakhand’s capital Dehradun, a student from South Sudan has allegedly raped a fellow student from South Africa. After this incident, Dehradun Police has registered a case on the basis of a zero FIR received from Delhi Police.
According to the police information, the incident took place on 29 October and the girl had gone to Delhi on 30 October. This female student alleged that the accused took her to a party and raped her there after she fell asleep.
South African student lodged a complaint with the Kashmiri Gate Police of Delhi
According to Dehradun Police, a South African student lodged a complaint with the Kashmiri Gate Police in Delhi on October 30. In her complaint, she stated that she arrived in India on August 30, 2022, to pursue a B.Com course at a private college in the Clement Town area of Dehradun. She resides in a girls’ hostel near the college. The student mentioned that while studying, she met another student from South Sudan who is pursuing a BBA at the same college.
Delhi Police registered a zero FIR and transferred the case to Dehradun
According to the complaint filed by this student, on October 29, the accused student took her to a party with him and raped her after she fell asleep. Instead of filing a complaint with Dehradun police, the next day she went to Delhi by bus for some important work during which she decided to lodge a complaint at the Kashmiri Gate police station. In Delhi, the student underwent medical examination by the police in Delhi itself, Delhi Police registered a zero FIR and transferred the case to Dehradun.
Case has been registered against the accused youth under 64(1) BNS
According to Clement Town police station in-charge Pankaj Dhariwal, “Under the zero FIR transferred from Delhi on November 16, a case has been registered against the accused youth under 64(1) BNS.” The police are investigating the matter and action will be taken as per law, he said.
