Kolkata: Veteran cricketer Sourav Ganguly escaped unhurt after the car he was travelling in along with a convoy met with an accident on the Durgapur Expressway near Burdwan district of West Bengal on Thursday.
Ganguly and his family members were going to attend an event last night when the Range Rover he was in was hit by a lorry near Singur on the expressway. As the driver hit the brakes in a hurry, the cars in the convoy behind too rammed into his vehicle.
Fortunately, the cricketer and his family members did not suffer any injuries, however, the cars were severely damaged in the crash. Police were called to the scene and Ganguly went on to attend the event in Burdwan after a preliminary inquiry by the cops.
What caused the accident
Ganguly’s convoy was moving through the rain when a lorry suddenly crashed into his car. In response, his driver abruptly applied the brakes, causing the vehicles behind to collide with each other.
