New Delhi: One of the most ancient temples of Lord Shiva is the Somnath temple located in Gujarat. It is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. It is considered the most sacred place for the devotees of Shiva. The Somnath temple was destroyed and rebuilt several times. Here the Jyotirlinga was installed in the air, which was made of iron and was installed in the air with a large magnetite magnet installed on the roof of the temple.
In the 11th century, i.e. 1000 years ago, when Mahmud Ghaznavi attacked India, he destroyed many Hindu temples, including the Somnath temple. When he reached the Somnath temple, he was shocked to see the Jyotirlinga suspended in the air. He then broke it, but now it is being claimed that parts of the Shivling have been found. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has taken upon himself the task of restoring the parts of the Shivling.
Worship of Shivling’s fragmented parts in different places
It is said that this Shivling was very magnetic and was installed one and a half to two feet in the air above the ground. After the Shivling was broken, the saints of that time had decided that they would worship the fragmented parts of this Shivling and when the right time comes, the Shivling will be re-installed. It is being told that for many years, the parts of that Shivling have been worshipped at different places.
Shivling will be reinstalled
In the last century, this Shivling came in the hands of Prandev Saraswati. After this, due to the family tradition, this Shivling came in the hands of Pandit Sitaram Shastri, then he took the Shivling to Shankaracharya Vijayendra Saraswati. He told to take it to Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in Bengaluru and told him that he will help in its consecration. In such a situation, now a plan is being made to re-install this Shivling in Somnath temple and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar himself has taken the responsibility of this in his hands.
