New Delhi: The weather in North and Northwest India, including Delhi-NCR, is set to change within the next 24 hours. According to India Meteorological Department, a western disturbance will bring rain and thunderstorms to several states.
Rainfall will continue in the mountainous regions, and snowfall is expected on high-altitude peaks. Many districts of Uttar Pradesh are likely to witness light rain and thunderstorms, while Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Rajasthan may experience rain until February 3-4.
Foggy conditions in North India
Dense fog has been covering many parts of Delhi-NCR, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh since Saturday night. Haryana also witnessed fog on Friday night.
This foggy spell is expected to continue for the next 2-3 days in Punjab, Chandigarh, and Haryana. Bihar, Odisha, Assam, and Meghalaya may also experience fog until February 3.
However, despite the change in weather, there is no significant increase in cold or sudden drop in temperature expected.
Temperature changes and forecast
The Western Himalayan region is not expected to witness drastic weather changes in the coming days. A slight drop of 2-3 degrees in temperature may occur, but the weather is likely to warm up soon after. North India could also experience a similar dip in temperature due to changing weather conditions.
Delhi and its surrounding areas will see changes in weather between February 3 and February 5. Cloudy skies and fog will prevail during this period. Light rain with thunderstorms is expected in many parts of Delhi-NCR on February 3 and 4.
The IMD has identified Western Disturbance as the main reason for these weather changes in the region.
