New Delhi: Two sisters, Bhavya Jain (23) and Charvi Jain (21), were arrested in a dramatic incident at their residential complex in Vasundhara Enclave, East Delhi, on Friday night after threatening an elderly man and causing chaos on the premises. The sisters, who have a history of trouble, previously assaulted a security guard at Anekant Apartments.
The situation escalated when Ashok Sharma, a 70-year-old retired police officer living in the complex, asked the sisters to stop honking their car horn continously. In retaliation, they vandalised his flower pots, entered his home and threatened him with a knife. After the incident, police were called, but upon arrival, the sisters locked themselves inside their flat for many hours, NDTV reported.
Civilians injured, property damaged
Once they came out, they drove recklessly around the complex, injuring many people and damaging parked vehicles. CCTV footage captured the car ramming into people, including police officers, as they tried to stop the chaos. The sisters’ reckless driving continued as they broke through a security barrier and collided with a police vehicle, leading to a chase. They also struck a scooterist, dragging the vehicle along the road before escaping.
Witnesses described the scene, including Pradeep Chaurasia, an electrician who sustained injuries from the car’s reckless driving. “One of the sisters looked at us and drove off at high speed,” he said. The incident concluded when police stopepc the sisters at Noida Sector 20 and they were taken into custody.
Sisters’ history of violence
The sisters live with their mother, who is undergoing cancer treatment, while their father runs a printing business in Paharganj. They had previously faced charges related to wrongful confinement and assault after allegedly attacking a security guard who they believed had shared information about them with their father.
