Shimla: Indrani Mukerjea, who is infamous for being accused in the murder of daughter Sheena Bora, danced at the Khushwant Singh Literary Festival in Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh. As the news spread online, netizens immediately expressed their disapproval and lashed out at the organisers of the event.
Pictures of Mukerjea dancing at the literary event went viral on social media, drawing a lot of criticism. In addition to dancing at the event, the murder accused also served as a panellist at the last edition of the fest. Netizens opined that Mukerjea’s recent love for dance is a PR gimmick to rebrand her image after years in prison. “Seeing Indrani Mukerjea perform and be legitimised at a Lit Fest, that too one named after Khushwant Singh, makes me sick to the pit of my stomach,” wrote writer Joy Bhattacharjya on X.

Several others opined that the appearance of Mukerjea at the prestigious festival tarnished the image of the festival organised in memory of Khushwant Singh, one of the greatest Indian writers. They also stated that it sent out a wrong message to society.
“Definitely sickening. I refused to watch her Netflix show but many did and recommended it to others,” wrote a user. Others questioned how the organisers could give her a stage despite her controversial and scandalist life. “Has everyone lost all moral judgement?” asked one disappointed X user.
Mukerjea gained the limelight following the Sheena Bora murder case in 2012. In addition to murder, Mukerjea was charged with tampering with evidence, false testifying, conspiracy, etc.
