According to a Mumbai Police official, the three arrested individuals have been charged with offenses related to obscene acts, distributing explicit content to young audiences, and promoting obscenity within society. These charges fall under the pertinent sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act.
This incident is reminiscent of a similar case that emerged in Tamil Nadu at the beginning of the year. The Central Bureau of Investigation arrested an individual from Thanjavur district in Tamil Nadu on charges of possessing and sharing child pornography material through electronic means. The 35-year-old suspect had reportedly sexually abused a child over a four-year period, recording nude videos and photographs of the minor, which were stored in an online cloud account. The arrest came following an alert received by the Tamil Nadu Police.
