Guptkashi: Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami arrived in Guptkashi on Monday for the Kedarnath by-election to participate in the election campaigning. After attending the political program, he visited the Kalimath temple. On his way back, the Chief Minister unexpectedly halted his convoy in the Guptkashi market and entered a clothing shop and purchased a jacket.
Overjoyed at the sudden visit of the chief minister at his shop, the shopkeeper welcomed. CM Dhami inquired about the shopkeeper’s well-being and asked to see a jacket. The people of Kedarnath region admired the simplicity of CM Dhami.
His unexpected visit surprised the locals
Seeing the CM, the shopkeeper in Guptkashi was initially surprised. However, when the Chief Minister’s staff arrived, the Chief Minister began looking at jackets. During this time, the shopkeeper invited the Chief Minister for tea, which he readily accepted. Chief Minister Dhami purchased a jacket, paid for it, and thanked the shopkeeper. Shopkeeper Pradeep Kumar expressed his gratitude, stating that in his 31 years of business, he had never encountered such a simple, gentle, and modest leader and a customer as well.
CM Dhami emphasized on ‘Vocal for Local’
According to the locals, the CM Dhami also expressed his sense of belonging towards the mountains by shopping in the Guptkashi market. Apart from his purchases, Dhami said that the markets of the mountains are the backbone of the economy of our villages and towns. The market for local products needs to be strengthened with the concept of Vocal for Local.
Dhami participated in the bike rally in Guptkashi
Chief Minister Dhami participated in the bike rally of Yuva Morcha from the helipad to the Guptkashi market in Guptkashi. During this, while addressing the huge public meeting, Dhami extended his support for BJP candidate Asha Nautiyal in Kedarnath assembly by-polls to be held on coming 20 November.
