Varanasi: The peaceful morning in Varanasi’s Bhadaini locality was shattered by a chilling discovery that left the community reeling in shock and horror. Inside a modest home, four lives were brutally cut short, leaving a trail of grief and unanswered questions.
The victims, Nitu (45), Rajendra Gupta’s second wife, and their three children – Navanendra (25), Gaurangi (16), and Shubhendra Gupta (15) – were found lifeless, their bodies riddled with bullets. The horrifying scene, discovered by a concerned neighbour who found the house eerily quiet, pointed towards a gruesome act of violence.
Rajendra Gupta, the head of the family, was initially missing, raising suspicion among the police and the community. Hours later, his body was found at a construction site, bearing a single bullet wound. The grim discovery led police to suspect a murder-suicide, a chilling conclusion to a tragic family saga.
Police investigations revealed a troubled past for Rajendra Gupta, who had a history of violence. He was named an accused in multiple murder cases, including the alleged killing of his father, brother, and sister-in-law. Despite facing these serious charges, he was out on bail.
The police investigation, which is still ongoing, is exploring various angles, including a possible motive related to a property dispute. Rajendra Gupta, a successful businessman, owned several properties and reportedly earned lakhs in rent each month. It is believed that a dispute over these assets could have fueled the tragedy.
The family was known for their frequent quarrels, and neighbours claimed they had witnessed heated arguments between Rajendra and Nitu. Reports also emerged that Rajendra had been consulting a tantrik, a claim that, while unconfirmed, has added another layer of intrigue to the case.
