New Delhi: Another case of Amazon delivery lapse has emerged in which a 42-year-old resident of Mahim, Mumbai complained that he got a set of tea cups in place of the Rs 55,000 smartphone for which he placed an order online.
The man, Amar Chavan, filed a police complaint against the e-commerce giant, accusing it of cheating, as per a report by news agency PTI. Chavan, a deputy engineer with civic-run Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking, ordered a Tecno Phantom V Fold 5G from Amazon.
What is the case?
On July 13, the BEST engineer ordered the high-end mobile phone from Amazon while paying Rs 54,999 online, he told the police. On July 15, he received the delivery. However, to his dismay, there were six tea cups in the parcel, Chavan claimed in his complaint. After this, he reportedly got in touch with the e-commerce giant and the seller company, but was not satisfied with their response. He claimed that he called up the shopping portal and lodged a complaint. They promised him they would investigate the matter and get back. However, they didn’t till July 20. Chavan alleged that when he called them up again, they showed their inability to help him and didn’t share their probe report. It was then that the victim approached the police.
A First Information Report (FIR) for alleged cheating was registered against unnamed officials of Amazon and the retailer and investigation was underway, an official of Mahim police was quoted as saying to PTI. He claimed that he has provided the cops with CCTV footage of the man who delivered the parcel.
