A deeply disturbing incident has emerged from Dhariyavad, Pratapgarh district, Rajasthan, where a pregnant tribal woman was subjected to a degrading ordeal as she was forcibly paraded naked. The shocking incident, captured in a viral video, has ignited public anger.
Shameful Incident Unveiled
The distressing episode occurred in the hilly village of the Dhariyavad police station area when a 21-year-old woman was cruelly paraded naked by her ex-husband, identified as Kana, and other relatives. The incident, which took place in Pahada village, Dhariyavad town, recently came to light through the circulating video.
Swift Police Response
Following the viral video’s circulation, the police swiftly took action. In response to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s directives, FGP Umesh Mishra dispatched ADG (Crime) Dinesh MN to Pratapgarh. Notably, both the victim and the accused belong to the tribal community, with the video capturing the woman’s distressing ordeal.
Detention of Suspects
Three individuals, including the woman’s ex-husband Kana, have been detained, while a search is ongoing for others involved in the incident. IG S. Parimala stated that, in light of the viral video, 12 teams were deployed in Dhariyavad tehsil, Pratapgarh district, to address the situation. During the arrests, an officer sustained injuries and was admitted to the hospital. The case names ten accused, all of whom will face apprehension in due course.
Government’s Firm Response
DGP Umesh Mishra affirmed the government’s dedication to addressing the incident seriously and promptly. Six teams have been formed to locate and apprehend the suspects. Pratapgarh SP Amit Kumar is personally present in the village to oversee developments.
Chief Minister’s Directive
Chief Minister Gehlot expressed his concern on social media, stating, “In Pratapgarh district, a video of a woman being stripped by her in-laws has surfaced due to a family dispute between Pehar and her in-laws.” He directed the Director General of Police to send ADG Crime to the location and urged for stringent actions against the culprits. Gehlot emphasized that there is no place for such criminals in a civilized society and that they will be swiftly brought to justice through fast-track court proceedings.
Political Reactions
The incident drew condemnation from opposition leaders, including former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, who criticized the administration for not acting sooner. BJP National President J.P. Nadda expressed shock and concern over the incident, highlighting a perceived absence of governance in Rajasthan and a disregard for women’s safety. He vowed that the people of Rajasthan would hold the state government accountable for its actions.
