New Delhi: Shillong Teer, a unique lottery game in Meghalaya, is based on archery and is organized by the Khasi Hills Archery Sports Association (KHASA). Held daily at the Shillong Polo Stadium, the game operates under the Meghalaya Amusement and Betting Tax Act. The winner is determined by the number of arrows, or “teers,” successfully hitting the target.
Tickets for the lottery are available at 5,000 designated counters across 11 districts in Meghalaya. Each participant begins with 50 arrows, aiming to hit 30 on the target in the first round and 20 in the second. The player who hits the most arrows is declared the winner. Meghalaya is one of 13 Indian states where lottery games are legal, along with Goa, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Nagaland, and Manipur, among others.
