New Delhi: In a major crackdown on organised crime, the Delhi Police’s Special Cell has arrested seven shooters linked with the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang during a pan-India operation. The arrests occurred across Punjab and nearby states, with police recovering a cache of weapons, including six automatic pistols and 24 live cartridges, as well as stolen vehicles and a GPS tracking device used for target surveillance.
The operation, which began on October 23, led to the arrest of shooters from the Arju Bishnoi gang, known for their involvement in multiple murder and extortion cases. Arju Bishnoi, while affiliated with the Lawrence gang, is primarily directed by Anmol Bishnoi, who remains at large.
The series of arrests commenced in Kamla Nagar, where a man named Sukhram was the first to be arrested. After his arrest, three more suspects—Sahil, Amol, and Ritesh—were taken into custody. Ritesh, hailing from Bihar, was actively conducting reconnaissance on potential targets in Ganganagar.
Bishnoi gang’s next target revealed
Sources said that the shooters had been plotting a murder in Haryana and Rajasthan, with their primary target being Sunil Pehalwan, the nephew of former MLA Rajkumar Garg. The gang had received this assignment recently and plans were already underway for further criminal activities. Badal, Sandeep and Amol were also involved in scouting the target, with reports suggesting they had successfully completed reconnaissance before the arrests. Sukhram said during questioning that there was a concrete plan to assassinate Pehalwan, further underscoring the gang’s serious intentions.
As part of the ongoing investigation, the Special Cell is also probing potential links between the arrested shooters and the high-profile murder case of Baba Siddiqui. The inquiry is critical, as it may uncover deeper connections within the organised crime network.
