Mulugu: Seven members of the CPI (Maoists) were killed during an encounter with police in Chalpaka forests of Eturnagaram mandal, Mulugu district of Telangana on Sunday. Among those killed was Badru, also known as Papanna, the commander of Maoist Yellandu-Narsampet area committee.
The operation involved the Greyhounds force, an elite anti-Maoist unit, along with local police. Authorities seized firearms from the encounter site.
Mulugu district’s Superintendent of Police (SP), Dr Shabarish, confirmed the deaths of the seven Maoists.
The encounter took place in a forested region known for Maoist activity and further investigations are underway.
