The Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of Sports and General Administration, Bihar, Dr. B. Rajendra, Director General of Bihar State Sports Authority, Mr. Ravindran Shankaran, and Director of Sports, Mr. Mahendra Kumar, today visited Begusarai and Bhagalpur districts to inspect the sports infrastructure being developed under the Khelo India Youth Games.
The officials met with district authorities and sports officials in both districts and reviewed the progress of ongoing construction work on-site. During the inspection, they instructed that special attention be given to the quality and timely completion of the projects. In Begusarai, they visited the Yamuna Bhagat Stadium in Teghra and the Refinery Stadium in Barauni. On this occasion, District Magistrate of Begusarai, Mr. Tushar Singla, along with other senior officials, was present.
The officials remarked that the infrastructure being developed for the Khelo India Youth Games will provide a significant opportunity for athletes from the state and will help Bihar’s sports talent gain a platform at the national level. They emphasized the need to complete all work with quality and within the stipulated deadlines. The Bihar State Sports Authority is ensuring that all construction work meets high-quality standards and is completed on time, so that Bihar can proudly showcase itself in the upcoming Khelo India Youth Games.
The Khelo India Youth Games 2025 are being hosted in five districts of Bihar — Patna, Rajgir (Nalanda), Bhagalpur, Gaya, and Begusarai. Football matches are proposed to be held in Begusarai, while badminton matches will take place in Bhagalpur. Preparations for the football competition in Begusarai are in full swing. To ensure that athletes are provided with world-class facilities for the successful conduct of the Khelo India Youth Games, sports department officials visited Begusarai and closely inspected arrangements related to accommodation, food, security, law and order, and the condition of sports grounds. During this visit, necessary guidelines were also given to upgrade the stadiums in Begusarai to meet national competition standards.
After successfully hosting the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy for hockey in Rajgir, Bihar is now ready to host the Khelo India Youth Games 2025. These games will provide a platform for young athletes to showcase and enhance their talent at the national level and will give Bihar a new identity in the field of sports. This is why the sports department of the Bihar government, in collaboration with the local administration, is continuously active in making these games a historic success.
