New Delhi: The Supreme Court has organised the screening of Hindi movie Laapataa Ladies, which is based on the gender equality theme, tomorrow for the top court judges, their spouses and officials of the Registry as part of the gender sensitisation programme.
Actor Aamir Khan, director Kiran Rao will also attend screening of movie
Actor Aamir Khan, who is the producer of the movie, and Kiran Rao, the director of the movie, will also attend the screening of the movie, which will be screened after the court hours at apex court’s auditorium.
“As part of the activities organised during the seventy-fifth year of the establishment of the Supreme Court of India, the movie ‘Laapataa Ladies’ which is based on the theme of gender equality, will be screened on Friday, 9 August 2024 in the Auditorium, C-Block, Administrative Building Complex. Ms Kiran Rao, who has directed the movie, and Mr Aamir Khan, Producer, will also be present during the screening,” a Supreme Court notification by Administration Section said.
Movie is being screened on initiative of Chief Justice Of India DY Chandrachud
According to Bar & Bench, the movie is being screened on the initiative of Chief Justice Of India DY Chandrachud and the idea behind the screening of the movie came from CJI Chandrachud’s wife Kalpana Das after she and her staff watched the movie.
What did CJI Chandrachud say?
Bar & Bench quoted CJI Chandrachud as saying, “It is my initiative to sensitise the Supreme Court staff and that is why this screening. There are many such things happening in the Supreme Court which is often not publicised. Like now we also have a round the clock Ayurvedic clinic for treatment and relaxation of Supreme Court staff members. So this screening is also for members to bond over.”
