New Delhi: Actor Salman Khan did not fear anyone and was quite a risktaker during his young days. Recently, actor Aasif Sheikh, who has worked with the superstar in several films, recalled an incident when Salman was caught for rash driving and driving on a footpath. Yes, you read it right!
For the unversed, Salman Khan was arrested in a 2002 hit-and-run case after he ran over five homeless people on a Mumbai street, leaving four injured and one killed. Bombay Session Court convicted the actor for “driving under the influence of alcohol” and sentenced him to five years in jail. However, the court granted him bail and suspended his sentence until the final hearing. In 2015, he was acquitted of all charges due to lack of evidence.
When Salman Khan was caught for rash driving
In a conversation with Lallantop, actor Aasif Sheikh, best known for his role in Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai, recalled an incident when he was shooting for Salman Khan starrer Bandhan (1998) and the duo went for a drive in the superstar’s Esteem. Aasif recalled that the actor asked him to sit next to him and “started driving everywhere on the footpath, on the road”. When he tells Salman that they can be caught by the police, the latter says, “Pakde jayenge toh yaar Salman Khan hain ghabrao mat. (Even if we get caught, don’t worry, you are with Salman Khan)”
Soon after that, a traffic police official caught them but the cop couldn’t recognise Salman Khan. The Tiger 3 actor then said, “Isne toh pehchana nahi (He didn’t recognise me)” and Aasif joked, “hirt utaar shayad pehchan le (Remove your shirt, then he might recognise you).”
Aasif Sheikh also recalled another incident with Salman Khan gto,m the shoot of Auzaar in Hyderabad. He recalled that his friend came to see him in his new car and to scare his friend, Salman drove his car rashly and since he was driving with a celebrity, he didn’t say much. After the drive, Salman just laughed it off saying he was just messing with his friend.
