New Delhi: Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar on Saturday slammed the team for their humiliating loss against New Zealand in the Pune Test, which cost them the Test series. India were defeated by the Kiwis by 113 runs in the second Test match and as a result of it, they won the three-game series 2-0. This was India’s first home Test series loss since 2012.
Tendulkar specifically took a dig at the senior Indian players for not stepping up in a must-win game. The likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli failed miserably in the entire series and specifically the second Test match, facing a lot of humiliation. The veteran Indian cricketer on the other end praised the Black caps for their efforts saying that they did what they could not do in all these years.
Test win against India in India a dream: Sachin
He further said that for any visiting side in the world cricket, it is impossible to think of beating India in their den but the Kiwis had the courage to do the impossible. He specially mentioned Mitchell Santner for his standout performance in the Test match. The Kiwi spinner showcased his bowling prowess at the best as he claimed 13 wickets in the match.

Apart from Sachin, former Indian pacer Irfan Pathan also congratulated the Kiwis for an outstanding performance on Indian soil and criticised the Indian team for a below-par effort saying that they need to deliver in the longest format as the next three months are very crucial for them.
Well done, New Zealand, on winning the series on Indian soil! For Team India, there’s a lot to reflect on. Senior players need to step up and deliver in the ultimate format of the game. The next three months will be crucial for them.
