New Delhi: Guddu Muslim, a prime suspect in February 24, 2023, murder of lawyer Umesh Pal and his two security personnel in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, is rumoured to be arrested from Angul district, Odisha, along with a woman allegedly identified as Shaista Parveen, wife of mafia Atiq Ahmed.
Recently, social media has been flooded with reports claiming the arrest of Guddu Muslim. However, these reports have now been confirmed as false by the authorities.
Guddu Muslim on the run
Guddu Muslim has been on the run since the February 24 incident, following his aggressive bombing and the shooting of Umesh Pal and his two government gunmen.
Shaista Parveen, Atiq Ahmed’s wife, has also been implicated in the case as a key conspirator, and authorities had announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for information on her whereabouts. Guddu Muslim, along with two other suspects, Sabir and Arman, has a bounty of Rs 5 lakh each on his head.
What’s the truth?
In the last few weeks, sources speculated that Guddu Muslim had been arrested in Odisha, along with a woman identified as Ayesha.
Claims circulated that Ayesha was two months pregnant and that her identity as Shaista Parveen was being hidden, as reported by NBT. Yet, officials clarified that these allegations are unfounded, and no arrests of Guddu Muslim or Shaista Parveen have been made.
Since the Umesh Pal murder case, several high-profile incidents took place, including the death of Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad Ahmed in an encounter in Jhansi, and the killing of Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf during their investigation. The investigation of the Umesh Pal case is still underway.
