New Delhi: Bollywood actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty was in a rude shock during a rally on Tuesday when his wallet was picked. The actor was busy campaigning for the Jharkhand Assembly elections in Dhanbad.
Chakraborty, a key campaigner for the BJP, participated in a poll rally in Kaliasole, Dhanbad, on Tuesday to show his support for BJP candidate Aparna Sengupta from Nirsa.
A massive crowd thronged the rally venue to take a look at the actor. Videos from the rally suggest that the security at the place was not enough and many people were seen scaling the stage to get close to the actor and take pictures with him.
‘Please give it back to him’
A miscreant apparently took advantage of the situation and stole Mithun’s wallet. In the video, organisers can be heard exhorting the public to return the wallet of the actor.
They appeal: “Whosoever has stolen Mithun Da’s wallet, please give it back to him.” The organisers also urged the people to get down from the podium. But the actor’s stolen wallet couldn’t be retrieved.

Later, the BJP rejected the claim that Mithun’s purse was stolen during the rally, and asserted that it was misplaced and later found. “There was no such incident of pickpocketing. The purse was misplaced and later found,” BJP’s Dhanbad district president Ghanshyam Grover was quoted as saying by PTI.
