Palakkad: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) began its All India Coordination Meeting in Kerala’s Palakkad on Saturday. This three-day meeting, chaired by RSS chief Dr Mohan Bhagwat, will continue till September 2.
Around 300 volunteers from various parts of the country are participating in this annual meeting. Several prominent people from RSS and its allied organisations attended the meeting. This includes Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale, six joint general secretaries, and other senior officials. Health Minister JP Nadda was also present at the meeting, along with representatives from numerous RSS-affiliated groups, such as Rashtriya Sevika Samiti, Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, and Vishwa Hindu Parishad.
Purpose and discussions
On August 30, All India Prachar pramukh Sunil Ambekar said that the purpose of the gathering was to discuss important national issues. One of the key topics discussed during the first session was the recent landslide in Wayanad.
Volunteers shared the efforts made by the RSS to help people affected by the disaster. This was followed by discussions on various national and social issues.
This year’s meeting is crucial as it marks the beginning of the preparations for the RSS’s 100th anniversary, which will be celebrated in 2025.
The anniversary coincides with Vijayadashami and RSS plans to launch several initiatives focused on social change. These include projects on social harmony, family welfare, environmental protection, promoting indigenous (Swa-Desi) products, and encouraging civic responsibility. These plans are also a key topic of discussion during the meeting.
Attendees and coordination
A total of 230 representatives from different RSS-affiliated organisations and 90 national-level RSS officials are attending the meeting. This includes women representatives as well.
Prominent attendees include Shantaka from Rashtriya Sevika Samiti, Sita Annadanam from Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram and Alok Kumar, President of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, among others.
The meeting aims to enhance cooperation and coordination among these various groups. Workers from different organisations will exchange ideas and share their experiences.
Additionally, the participants will discuss recent important events and other aspects related to social change and development. They will also talk about the necessary steps to strengthen their efforts in nation-building.
This is the first time the All India Coordination Meeting is being held in Kerala, even though many similar high-level meetings have taken place in the state before.
