New Delhi: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is set to hold its three-day All India Coordination Meeting in Kerala’s Palakkad from tomorrow. The meeting will go on from August 31 to September 2. The annual meet would focus on strengthening collaboration and coordination among various organisations affiliated with the RSS, including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), among other issues.
RSS chief, Dr Mohan Bhagwat, general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale, all six joint general secretaries, and other senior officials will attend the meeting.
BJP’s dismal performance in Lok Sabha polls
The meet is particularly important in the wake of BJP’s dismal performance in the recently held Lok Sabha elections, with the party’s seats dropping from 303 to 240 in the lower house of the Parliament. Another crucial aspect of the meeting is that it is being held on the heels of upcoming assembly elections in Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, and Jharkhand.
Election dates have already been announced for Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir, with voting in Jammu and Kashmir scheduled for September 18, September 25, and October 1 in three phases, and in Haryana on October 1, with results to be announced on October 4.
One of the reasons that the political experts attribute to saffron party’s poor performance was a lack of coordination between the Sangh and the party workers.
Another meet at Rajnath Singh’s residence
Last week, senior leaders of the RSS and the BJP met at the residence of defence minister Rajnath Singh to discuss the strengthening of coordination between the party and the RSS, along with other key issues, including the forthcoming elections. It was attended by Union home minister Amit Shah, RSS general secretary Arun Kumar, BJP President JP Nadda, and Rajnath Singh.
The Palakkad meeting will involve national presidents, organisational secretaries, and senior officials from 32 RSS-inspired organisations, including the Rashtra Sevika Samiti, Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Bharatiya Janata Party, Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, Vidya Bharati, and Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh. In all 320 karyakartas are expected to attend the meeting.

According to Sunil Ambekar, the All India Head of Publicity for the RSS, the meeting will provide a platform for workers from various organisations to exchange information and experiences related to their work. Discussions will cover the current national landscape, recent significant events, and other aspects of social change, with a focus on planning. He added that all organisations will deliberate on the necessary steps to further enhance mutual cooperation and coordination on various topics.
The annual three-day All India meeting typically takes place once a year. Last year’s meeting was held in Pune in September 2023.
