Mumbai: Cost of living is high in the maximum city and even the most basic things are a bit more expensive here when compared to other Indian cities. However, recently a man expressed his shock over being overcharged for a plastic cup at a mall in Thane. He took to social media to express his disbelief after he was charged Rs 40 for a plastic cup in which he was served mango juice. The post sparked a heated discussion on social media.
An X user, Ravi Handa, expressed his dismay over exorbitant charges at a Thane mall and said, “Who the hell charges 40₹ for disposable plastic glasses to drink Mango juice in! I knew Mumbai is expensive but this is ridiculous.” he added.

An X user said, “Ye dekh K Mumbai me restaurant open krne ka man kr gya.” Meanwhile, another social media user said, “Indian businesses are answerable to no one. They need any random reason to con customers. Most of them are unregulated & charge as they want!”
Another X user remarked, “So if someone says they don’t want a glass, will they offer juice from a tap?”
“This is typical Bombay. Only cost no returns,” said another social media user.
Taking a jibe, a person tweeted, “According to them, It is not disposable glass. It is MEDIUM/LARGE glass.”
Many other social media users agreed with Handa and shared their frustrations as customers in Indian malls.
