New Delhi: As the DNA and forensic reports suggest involvement of only arrested accused Sanjay Roy in the rape-murder of a 31-year-old junior doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will seek help of experts from All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for a final opinion. The probe agency intends to make a watertight case, and that’s why it wants to seek the opinion of AIIMS Delhi.
According to a PTI report, these reports and the AIIMS review will go a long way in helping the CBI ascertain if Sanjay Roy was the only accused who committed the heinous crime.
Officials said the CBI is working on leads that Roy was the only accused in the doctor’s rape and murder but involvement of others will only be ruled out after getting the opinion of AIIMS experts.
According to sources, DNA report does not support gang rape theory and the CBI will send the report to AIIMS for further analysis. Any conclusion will be reached only after the final review by AIIMS. This crime is not gang rape, TV9 had revealed three days ago, a day before the status report was to be submitted.
The doctor was raped and killed inside the seminar hall of the RG Kar Hospital on August 9. She was allegedly attacked by Roy when she was sleeping in the seminar room amid her 36-hour-long shift in the hospital. Her body bore severe injuries.
Sanjay Roy, the civic volunteer, was arrested on August 10 after he was spotted in a CCTV footage entering the seminar hall at 4.03 AM on August 9. A polygraph test was conducted on him.
