RG Kar rape and murder case: Resident doctors call off strike after Centre assures security

New Delhi: The Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association, which was on protest ever since the brutal rape and murder of a doctor in Kolkata, has called off its strike after Union Health Minister JP Nadda late on Tuesday night.

Speaking to ANI, Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association President Aviral Mathur said, “We just met Union Minister JP Nadda at his residence and presented our reformulated demands and before him. He assured us that he would provide a safe working environment for doctors. He has assured us that our demands would be addressed in a time-bound manner. A committee would be formed and we would be a part of it. All our demands have been accepted, hence, FORDA is calling off the strike.”
