Polygraph test on 2 more people: Official

Officials said that 2 more people will undergo the test in Kolkata’s CBI office, on Sunday itself. Earlier, 4 persons including the former principal of the college, Sandip Ghosh had undergone the polygraph test. The test on the former head of the institution and 2 others was carried out on Saturday.

Polygraph test specialists from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Delhi, were flown in to Kolkata to conduct the test. In its response to the Supreme Court, the CBI had said that the crime scene at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital had been altered by the time the case was transferred to them. They had reportedly blamed the local police for this and said that the state police was trying to cover the brutal rape and murder of the woman.

The body of the trainee doctor was found with severe injuries inside the seminar room of the hospital’s chest department. This was on the morning of August 9. Next day the police arrested Roy, a civic volunteer working with the Kolkata Police department. The rape and murder led to an outpouring of support for the deceased doctor and several protests were held across the country. Doctors also went on strike demanding action in the case and security for their clan.

The case was transferred to the CBI on August 13, on order of the Kolkata High Court. The agency started investigations in the case on August 14.
