The initial autopsy report in the rape and murder of RG Kar Medical college student has thrown some unanswered questioned. Questions are being raised whether there was one in the case of multiple accused who raped and killed the Kolkata lady doctor.
‘Not possible for single person to carry out assault’
According to report, the victim’s mouth and nose were pinched when she was possibly suffocated to death. There were also signs that the victim resisted during the assault. With this the questions are being raised whether the accused alone committed the heinous crime or were there multiple people involved in the crime.
“These two tasks at the same time are not possible for a single person unless he is very good at using both hands,” says Dr Ajay Gupta.
“The victim herself was a medical student. She must have resisted when she realised that she was about to be violated. However, she may have been attacked from two sides and so it was not possible for her to resist until the end,” Dr Gupta further added.
‘Gang rape can not be ruled out in RG Kar case’
Forensic medicine expert Sobhan Das echoes Dr Aay Gupta. “The possibility of gang-rape can not be ruled out. It is not always necessary that everyone involved in the crime committed the sexual act. There may be two or more than two individuals involved. It is possible that one was on guard, while the other indulged in assault. Such an act also amounts to gang rape,” Das concurs.
Dr Anirban Dalui also states, “It is not possible for a single person to inflict such grievous injuries on the victim’s body. Looking at the physical built of the person who was caught, I think it is not possible for him alone to do such a thing alone. The possibility of multiple people being involved in this is very high.”
Was Kolkata doctor raped after murder?
Forensic experts have raised further questions over the murder of Kolkata doctor from the RG Kar Medical college. One pertinent question is whether the doctor was raped after murder?
The injuries found on trainee doctor’s genitals are described as ‘perimortem’ (at or near the time of death) in the autopsy report. The revelations have left many shocked due to horrific nature of the incident. Forensic expert Sobhan Das states, “I would not call it rape and murder; I would call it murder and then rape.”
But why is he saying this?
Sobhan Das argues that the victim was a doctor and must be strong. “She must have resisted when she was attacked. An attempt was made to suffocate her and this must have caused her to lose consciousness. The rape must have happened after she lost consciousness,” Das further stated. Das said the perpetrator must have sustained many wounds during the struggle the struggle with the victim.
Sobhan Das also argues that whoever committed the gruesome act knew the place well and seamlessly got out. He said the the movement of the victim must have been monitored by the accused.
