Kolkata: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday carried out multiple raids in connection with the financial irregularities at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
The search operations are taking place at several locations in Kolkata and suburban areas. One of the key locations being raided is the residence of Satya Prakash Ghosh, the father of Sandip Ghosh, a former principal of RG Kar Medical College.
Documents seized in previous raids
This is not the first time the ED has been involved in this case. During earlier raids, a significant amount of documents were recovered.
The raids are taking place at three to four locations in Kolkata. These fresh raids are targeting people believed to be involved in the case.
Junior doctors protest over RG Kar rape-murder case
Junior doctors at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital continued their protest over the rape and murder of a junior doctor. The 31-year-old doctor was brutally raped and killed in the hospital premises on September 9. The protests took place at several locations across Kolkata.

On September 9, Supreme Court directed the protesting doctors to return to work by 5 pm on September 10. The court assured the doctors that no punitive action would be taken against them for protesting, but warned that if they continued to abstain from their duties, disciplinary measures could follow.
