New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday (October 15) submitted before the Supreme Court that a Sealdah court has taken cognisance of a chargesheet filed by it against prime accused Sanjay Roy in the rape and murder of trainee woman doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9 and the case has been committed to a sessions court.
The CBI filed its fifth status report before the apex court, which is hearing a suo motu cognisance of the rape and murder of 31-year-old trainee woman doctor.
The CBI, in its status report, informed the court that the agency filed the chargesheet against prime accused Sanjay Roy on October 7 for alleged offences and the court has fixed November 4 for consideration on charges against Roy.
Further probe into role of others is a subject of ongoing investigation, CBI told apex court
The CBI told an apex court bench comprising Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra that further probe into the role of others in the alleged rape and murder case is a subject of ongoing investigation. The CBI further told the bench that it has also received communications pertaining to certain aspects highlighted by parties appearing through counsels and those issues are also being looked at by the CBI.
Agency in touch with parents of deceased woman doctor, CBI informed apex court
The CBI also told the bench that it is in touch with parents of the deceased woman doctor and that the nodal officers of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeiTY) are working to pull down any offending material uploaded on any intermediary platforms revealing the identity of the victim.

Woman doctor was raped, murdered at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9
A trainee woman doctor was allegedly raped and murdered at the seminar room of the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9 when she had gone to sleep in the seminar room of the hospital during a break. The body of the woman doctor was later found that night with severe injuries in the seminar room. The Kolkata Police arrested Roy, who was working as a civic volunteer with the Kolkata Police, on August 10 for his alleged involvement in crime.
