The eagerly awaited electric flex-fuel Toyota Innova MPV, powered by 100% ethanol (E100), is poised to redefine India’s automotive landscape. This achievement is particularly noteworthy as it transitions the country from E10 to E100 vehicles in a remarkably short span. Notably, India had reached a blending rate of 10% in petrol by June 2022.

Toyota’s innovation is set to make history as the world’s first BS-6 (Stage-2) electrified flex-fuel vehicle. This ambitious endeavor aligns with Nitin Gadkari’s growing interest in biofuels, dating back to 2004 when the rising cost of petrol prompted him to explore sustainable alternatives. His vision extends beyond environmental preservation, encompassing economic security by curbing the colossal oil import expenditures that amount to around Rs 16 lakh crore.
E10 to E100 Vehicles in Record Time
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Gadkari highlighted upcoming road projects worth Rs 65,000 crore, including the completion of the Dwarka Expressway. He also emphasized the perils of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, advocating for a shift to organic farming to mitigate health risks.
