‘Revenge for Nakodar firing’: Terrorist Happy Pasiya claims C’garh grenade attack

New Delhi: Khalistani terrorist Happy Pasiya in a post on Thursday claimed responsibility for the hand grenade attack in Chandigarh’s upscale Sector 10 area on Wednesday evening.

Two persons in an autorickshaw hurled the hand grenade in the front verandah of a house belonging to a retired police officer.

Police in Chandigarh have already arrested a person in connection with the grenade blast. They have also announced a reward of Rs 2 lakh for two other suspects in the case. Special Cell and Crime Branch of Delhi Police has also reached the spot.

What Happy Pasiya said in the post

The post reads: “In 1986, in Nakodar, Punjab, remembering the Sikh martyrs, a grenade attack was carried out today at Sector 10, Kothi Number 575, D Block, targeting the SP and blowing him up along with his gunmen as a form of retribution. Babbar Khalsa International.”

What happened just after blast

Just after the blast, the suspect was seen fleeing the scene in a speeding autorickshaw. The vehicle had a close shave with a car.

On receiving information at 5.30pm, Chandigarh Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kanwardeep Kaur and other cops swung into action and reached the house to take stock of the situation. Sources said that the attackers had carried out surveillance of the house couple of days before the grenade attack.
