Bengaluru: Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, who is an accused in the Renukaswamy murder case told the Karnataka High Court that deceased Renukaswamy was a menace to society and he had no respect for woman.
Senior Advocate CV Nagesh, who appeared for the actor, made the statement before the High Court while arguing on a bail plea filed by Darshan.
Darshan, his friend Pavithra Gowda and 15 other persons are accused in the murder case of 33-year-old Renukaswamy.
Renukaswamy allegedly made derogatory comments against Pavithra on social media
Renukaswamy, who is stated to be a fan of Darshan, allegedly made derogatory comments against Darshan’s friend Pavithra on social media, which allegedly enraged the actor and this allegedly led to his murder. Pavithra, who is accused number one in the case, was the “major cause” for Renukaswamy’s murder, as per the police.
Renukaswamy had a history of sharing obscene images of women, Darshan’s counsel told High Court
Nagesh, while stating that Ramaswamy’s behaviour was reprehensible, told Justice S Vishwajith Shetty that the deceased had a history of sharing obscene images of women and he had no regard for societal norms or respect for women.
“A man with no respect for women, a lawless individual, has now been portrayed as a national hero, while my client, who is a hero in reel life, is being vilified as a villain,” Nagesh told the High Court, news agency PTI reported.
Darshan’s counsel also refuted claim that Renukaswamy was abducted
Nagesh, while highlighting alleged procedural lapses in the investigation, also refuted the claim that Renukaswamy was abducted on the orders of Darshan and stated that he had voluntarily travelled from Chitradurga to Bengaluru.
The argument on Darshan’s bail plea would continue on November 28.
Darshan, who was arrested in the case on June 11, is currently out on interim bail, granted by the High Court on medical grounds to undergo spine surgery.
The Bengaluru Police filed a 3,991-page preliminary charge sheet before a city court in Renukaswamy murder case on September 4.
