Bengaluru: A city court on Friday (September 9) extended the judicial custody of Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, his friend Pavithra Gowda and others till September 17 in the Renukaswamy murder case.
Darshan, Pavithra and others were produced before court via video-conferencing
Darshan, Pavithra and 15 others – all accused in the Renukaswamy murder case – were produced before the 24th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court through video conferencing from various prisons across the state of Karnataka, where they are currently lodged in judicial custody, after the expiry of their judicial custody granted earlier by the court, which extended their judicial custody in the case till September 17, news agency PTI reported.

The Bengaluru Police filed a 3,991-page preliminary chargesheet in the Renukaswamy murder case on September 4 and the charge sheet comprises statements of 231 witnesses and technical and electronic evidence. The names of 56 police officers are there in the chargesheeet as the witnesses in the case.
A ‘watertight’ chargesheet was prepared after probing the case from all aspects, Bengaluru Police Commissioner earlier said
A statement from the police earlier said that the chargesheet against all the 17 accused in the murder case, including actor Darshan, has been filed on the basis of the account of the eye-witnesses and circumstantial, technical, scientific and other evidence collected during the investigation of the case. Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda, on the day of filing the chargesheeet in the case, had told the media that a “watertight” charge sheet was prepared after probing the case from all aspects.
Renukaswamy allegedly made derogatory comments against Pavithra
As per reports, Renukaswamy, said to be a fan of Darshan, allegedly made derogatory comments against Pavithra, who is said to be a friend of Darshan, on social media, which allegedly enraged Darshan, allegedly leading to his murder. Post-mortem report of deceased Renukaswamy revealed that he died due to shock and haemorrhage as a result of multiple blunt injuries.
