New Delhi: Padma Bhushan awardee and renowned folk singer Sharda Sinha’s health took a sudden downturn on October 26, following which she was admitted to AIIMS Hospital in Delhi. Recent updates indicate that her condition has worsened, prompting doctors to shift her to a ventilator, and she remains in a very critical state. It is reported that Sinha had been receiving treatment at AIIMS for several days.
Health Minister JP Nadda visited AIIMS Delhi late at night to inquire about Sharda Sinha’s condition. On Saturday night, Nadda made an unexpected visit to the hospital, where he reviewed Sinha’s treatment with hospital officials. He gathered information from the AIIMS director regarding her care and mentioned the importance of providing excellent treatment arrangements. Nadda also spoke with Sharda Sinha’s son, Anshuman, to obtain updates on his mother’s health.
Sharda Sinha had been struggling with eating and drinking difficulties for an extended period, for which she was undergoing treatment. Since 2017, Sinha has been battling multiple myeloma, a type of bone marrow cancer. However, on the morning of October 26, her condition deteriorated significantly, which required immediate hospitalised.
Health takes turn for worse
She is currently in the care of the Oncology Medical Department at AIIMS. According to sources, her health had been fragile since the passing of her husband, who died from a brain hemorrhage. Sinha frequently shared posts about him on her social media, with reports indicating she has been deeply affected by his loss.

Known widely for her Chhath songs, Sharda Sinha has also made her mark in Bollywood, lending her voice to songs in films featuring stars like Salman Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. She sang ‘Kahe Tose Sajna’ in the film Maine Pyar Kiya and ‘Baabul’ in Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, starring Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit.
