New Delhi: Rekha Gupta, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and member of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, has officially taken oath as the Chief Minister of Delhi. Representing the Shalimar Bagh Assembly constituency, she becomes the fourth woman to hold the state’s top post.
Aged 50, Gupta is a practicing lawyer, having earned her law degree from Chaudhary Charan Singh University in Meerut. She is married to Manish Gupta, who, according to her affidavit for the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, works as an agency associate at Kotak Life Insurance and runs his own business, Nikunj Enterprises.
Gupta’s assets
As per her election affidavit, Rekha Gupta’s total assets are valued at Rs 5.31 crore, while her liabilities stand at Rs 1.20 crore. In the financial year 2023-24, Gupta reported an annual income of Rs 6,92,050, as per her Income Tax Return (ITR). Her previous year’s earnings were Rs 4,87,850.
Meanwhile, her husband, Manish Gupta, earned Rs 97.33 lakh during the 2023-24 fiscal year, compared to Rs 64.56 lakh in the preceding year.The couple had Rs 4.03 lakh in cash at the time of filing the affidavit. Their deposits across banks, financial institutions, and non-banking financial companies totaled Rs 72.94 lakh. They also held Rs 9.29 lakh in bonds, debentures, and shares, while their investments in LIC policies amounted to Rs 53.68 lakh.
Family wealth
According to the affidavit, the couple owns a 2020 Maruti XL6, valued at Rs 4.33 lakh. Their jewellery collection, weighing 360 grams, is worth approximately Rs 29 lakh. The Guptas also possess immovable property, including residential buildings in Delhi’s Shalimar Bagh area, valued at Rs 2.6 crore.
Delhi government cabinet
BJP’s new Delhi government, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, will have six cabinet ministers, including former AAP leader Kapil Mishra. According to a Union Home Ministry notice issued on Thursday, President Droupadi Murmu approved the appointment of BJP MLAs Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj, Kapil Mishra and Pankaj Kumar Singh as ministers based on Ms. Gupta’s recommendation.
