New Delhi: Days after the two Agniveers Gohil Vishwaraj Singh and Saifat Shit were killed during a firing practice in Nashik, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Sunday said that the tragic incident has also put serious questions on the Centre’s schemes.
Taking to X, the Congress leader asked a series of questions on the scheme. Accusing the Centre of failing to address concerns over the Agniveer scheme, Rahul Gandhi asked whether the families of both the deceased would receive compensation timely and also whether the compensation given to them will be equivalent to what was given to martyred soldiers.
Will families of deceased Agniveers get the same benefits? Rahul Gandhi
“Why will the families of Agniveers not get the benefits of pension and other government facilities? When the responsibilities and sacrifices of both the soldiers are the same, then why this discrimination after their martyrdom?,” the former Congress president asked.
Observing that the Agniveer Scheme is an injustice to the army and an insult to the martyrdom of our brave soldiers, Rahul Gandhi asked, “ The Prime Minister and Defense Minister should answer why the life of one soldier is more valuable than that of another soldier?”
“Let’s stand together against this injustice. Join our ‘Jai Jawan’ movement today to remove the BJP government’s ‘Agniveer’ scheme and secure the future of the country’s youth and army!,” he further said.
