New Delhi: In good news for the residents of Uttar Pradesh and the rest of the country, the government is looking to come with 15 expressways across the state spanning over 2,700 kilometres. The step will help people to reach one corner of the state to another via e-way.
It may be noted that while six of these lanes (1,224 kilometres) are already under operation, five more, totaling around 945 kilometres are under construction. The state government will build four more lanes, which are expected to span around 55 kilometres and form an e-way grid.
Three of these expressways were built under SP, the BJP Govts
Two of these expressways, the Noida Expressway (25 km) and the Greater Noida-Agra Yamuna Expressway (165 km), were built when Mayawati was the Chief Minister. Similarly, Agra-Lucknow Expressway (302 km) was built when Akhilesh Yadav was the Chief Minister.
The Delhi-Meerut Expressway (96 km) was built after the present Government under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath came to power. Even as the Pooravancgal Expressway (340 kilometers) from Gazipur to Lucknow. The government is also building a 91-kilometre expressway to connect the expressway with the Agra-Lucknow Expressway to ensure better connectivity for commuters.
Pace work on Ganga Expressway
The construction work is going on fast on the 594-kilometer-long Ganga Expressway from Meerut to Prayagraj. While 70 percent of the expressway is already completed, the expressway is expected to be operational by the end of this year, a News 18 report said.
Importantly, the focus of the BJP-led government is to link expressways in Uttar Pradesh so that people can get better connectivity across the state. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently approved the Vindhya Expressway (320 km) from Prayagraj to Sonbhadra during the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela. This expressway will run through Varanasi. This express will start from where the Ganga Expressway would end, ensure the smooth travel for commuters.
