New Delhi: India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja bagged his second five-wicket haul during New Zealand’s second innings of the ongoing third Test between the two sides at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday. Jadeja dismissed Ajaz Patel in the morning session on Day 3 to complete his fifer and help India bundle out the visitors for 174 runs in their second innings.
Jadeja went on to achieve a rare feat after completing a 10-wicket match haul as he became only the second Indian bowler after R Ashwin to take two fifers in a Test match against New Zealand. Ashwin, who has achieved the feat twice, is the only other Indian bowler apart from Jadeja to have taken 2 five-wicket hauls in the same Test against New Zealand.
Jadeja, who finished with figures of 5/65 during New Zealand’s first innings, continued his fine form with the ball in the visitors’ second innings. He dismissed the likes of Daryl Mitchell, Tom Blundell, Ish Sodhi, Matt Henry and Patel to run through New Zealand’s lower-middle order in their second innings and complete his 2nd fifer.
Thanks to Jadeja’s bowling heroics, New Zealand were skittled out for 174 runs in their second innings and set India a target of 147 runs to win the third Test.
