New Delhi: Rapper A$AP Rocky is reportedly close to taking over English football club Tranmere Rovers. According to reports, the 36-year-old musician, who is dating pop superstar Rihanna, is part of an investment group led by celebrity lawyer Joe Tacopina. This group has been negotiating to acquire an 80% stake in the League Two side, with the deal said to be worth around £15 million.
Tranmere Rovers, based in Birkenhead, are currently owned by Mark and Nicola Palios, who have been at the helm since 2014. Despite being financially stable, the club has been looking for external investment to help fund various projects, including plans for a new stadium. The club has stated that further investment is needed to remain competitive in the higher leagues and complete the necessary infrastructure developments.

Should the deal be completed, Rocky is expected to attend matches at Prenton Park, possibly with Rihanna. Additionally, there are rumours that a documentary could be produced, similar to the hit series “Welcome to Wrexham,” which followed the journey of Wrexham AFC after it was taken over by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
The proposed takeover is still awaiting approval from the EFL, but if it goes through, it could signal a new era for Tranmere Rovers, bringing them into the spotlight and potentially following the path of other celebrity-backed clubs. With Rocky’s involvement, the club could see a significant boost in attention both on and off the pitch.
