Rajasthan cabinet raises govt employee’s death gratuity limit to Rs 25 lakh | Check details

Jaipur: Ahead of the upcoming by-elections in the state, Rajasthan cabinet on Wednesday held a significant meeting. During this meeting, significant decisions were made that will benefit government employees and contribute to the state’s development.

The government has announced several important changes, from increasing gratuity benefits to promoting employees, which were shared by the state’s Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Bairwa and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel during a press conference.

Increased death gratuity and promotion opportunities

In a major decision, Rajasthan government has increased the death gratuity limit for its employees. Previously set at Rs 20 lakh, this amount has now been raised to Rs 25 lakh.

Additionally, third- and fourth-class employees have been given the opportunity for promotion, a move expected to boost their morale. Moreover, employees with more than two children will now also be eligible for promotions.

Support for pensioners

The government also announced an increase in outdoor medical allowance for pensioners under the Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS).

Pensioners who were earlier entitled to a maximum of Rs 20,000 for outdoor medical treatments will now receive up to Rs 30,000.

Focus on solar energy

The cabinet meeting also focused on increasing power production in the state, especially through solar energy. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel highlighted the government’s intention to make Rajasthan a power surplus state by expanding solar energy generation. Land will be allocated to various companies for the development of solar energy projects in the state.

“The government’s goal on solar energy is clear. We should all produce electricity together,” said Minister Jogaram Patel. “Efforts should be made to make Rajasthan a surplus state in power production. The government has taken big decisions regarding this. Now we are going to allocate land to power companies,” he added.

Unified Pension Scheme and employee transfers

The recently announced Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) by the central government was also discussed in the meeting. However, no conclusive decisions were made regarding its implementation in the state. Minister Jogaram Patel said, “The UPS announced by the Central Government was discussed in the Cabinet, but no decision or any point has been decided yet.”

Furthermore, Rajasthan government aims to establish a transparent policy for the transfer of government employees. Patel said that the state is seeking suggestions from other states to formulate a policy that differs from the previous government’s approach. “Our aim is to work differently from the previous government; we are responsible towards the public,” added Patel.
