New Delhi: A three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT), spearheaded by SP Rupinder Kaur from Phagwara and comprising DSP Deep Karan Singh from Punjab Police and SHO Bikramjeet Singh from Kapurthala city police station, has been formed to investigate serious sexual harassment allegations against Pastor Bajinder Singh.
The SIT has been tasked with a swift and thorough investigation, concluding with a prompt submission of its findings. This high-profile case involves a prominent pastor with a significant social media presence and endorsements from Bollywood celebrities.
The complaint against Pastor Singh stems from a woman’s account of repeated instances of sexual harassment. The complainant alleges that she and her parents had been attending his church since October 2017. During that time, Singh allegedly obtained her phone number and began sending her inappropriate messages.
Fearing reprisal, the woman reportedly concealed the harassment from her family. The alleged abuse escalated in 2022, according to the complaint, with Singh allegedly isolating her in a private church cabin on Sundays and subjecting her to unwanted physical contact, including inappropriate touching and hugging.
Consequently, a case has been filed against Pastor Bajinder Singh under sections 354A (sexual harassment), 354D (stalking), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. The case has drawn significant attention due to Singh’s considerable social media following, frequently featuring his content on platforms like YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels. His online presence, bolstered over time by endorsements from celebrities such as actors Chunky Pandey and Aditya Pancholi, has brought a layer of public scrutiny to this investigation.
However, Pastor Singh vehemently denies the allegations, dismissing them as fabricated during a press conference on March 2. He characterised the claims as “false” and “baseless,” contesting the validity of the evidence presented, including chat logs. Addressing the media in Jalandhar, he referred to the complainant as his “daughter” and declared that his role was to “pray for her”.
