New Delhi: Pune district administration is set to finish land acquisition for the first phase of the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) inner ring road in the next three to four months, officials have reportedly said. This is a big milestone for Pune’s growing infrastructure. Construction will start for the first phase of a 4.7-km stretch from Solu to Vadgaon Shinde. The Maharashtra government has proposed the 83.12 km-long inner ring road to reduce traffic snarls caused by heavy vehicles in the city and to improve connectivity between various towns.
Rs 113 crore allocated for land acquisition
The PMRDA has allocated a budget of Rs 113 crore for land acquisition, with around 30% already deposited with the Collector’s office as compensation for the first phase. An official told Times of India that with the amount already deposited with the district administration, the process to acquire land is set to get over within the next 3-4 months.
The entire cost of the total 83-km inner ring road project is estimated to be approximately Rs 14,200 crore. The district collector’s office has already finished the joint survey and will proceed with the valuation for this phase. Officials underlined that the villagers have agreed to hand over their land for the proposed plan.
The PMRDA inner ring road will go a long way in giving vehicles smoother route to highways, while bypassing the nightmarish urban traffic. To speed up the scheme, the state government permitted the planning authority a sop in the social impact assessment stage last year.
First phase needs land acquisition from 3 villages
The first phase of the project, spanning approximately 5 km, will need the acquisition of 28 hectares of land from three villages: Solu, Wadgaon Shinde, and Nirgudi. As much as 13.17 hectares of land will be acquired from Solu, followed by 9.32 hectares from Nirgudi, and 5.71 hectares from Wadgaon Shinde.
The proposed 83.12-km inner ring road will need the acquisition of approximately 743.41 hectares of land from 44 villages across the talukas of Khed, Haveli, Mulshi, and Maval in Pune district. The road will link Pune-Satara Road with Nagar Road. Around 42 connecting roads will also be redeveloped. The project will include 17 bridges and 10 tunnels. Apart from this, five meters of the road will be reserved for Metro tracks. The administration has taken the help of drones to expedite the land survey for the construction of the proposed inner ring road.
