New Delhi: Pune traffic police have introduced major changes to the city’s traffic ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally at the SP College Ground on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. To ensure smooth movement for the Prime Minister’s convoy and to minimise disruption for local commuters traffic adjustments have been made.
In addition to altering traffic routes, authorities have imposed a ban on heavy vehicles across several key roads in the city to alleviate congestion and maintain traffic flow.

Key traffic restrictions for PM Modi’s visit
Kelkar Road: This road will be made one-way from Tilak Chowk to Bhide Bridge Junction. Drivers can take alternative route by turning left at Z Bridge and then right at Bhide Bridge Junction.
Garud Ganpati Chowk: Access from Garud Ganpati Chowk to Bhide Bridge Chowk will be restricted. Motorists should turn left at Garud Ganpati Chowk and make a U-turn at Tilak Chowk to avoid the closure.
Deccan to Kelkar Road: Entry from Deccan via Bhide Bridge to Kelkar Road will be prohibited. Commuters are encouraged to use Riverside Road as an alternative route.
N S Phadke Chowk: Access from NS Phadke Chowk to Nath Pai Chowk will be closed. Drivers can use Nilayam Bridge and Sinhagad Road to reach their destinations.
Ambil Odha Junction: The entry via Babura Ghule Road will be closed, with an alternative route through Joggers Park Road and Shastri Road.

Heavy vehicles will be prohibited on the following roads:
- Solapur Road
- Ahmednagar Road
- Alandi Road
- Old Pune-Mumbai Highway
- Aundh Road
- Baner Road
- Pashan Road
- Paud Road
- Karve Road
- Sinhagad Road
- Satara Road
- Saswad Road
- Lohegaon Road
These measures are being introduced to ensure minimal disruption to daily commuting while accommodating the anticipated surge in traffic due to the rally and the movement of the Prime Minister’s convoy.
Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Pune will take place ahead of the Maharashtra assembly elections on November 20. The rally at Sir Parashurambhau College Ground is expected to attract a large crowd, and the changes to traffic flow are part of ongoing efforts to maintain safety and order throughout the city during the event.
